Hi Fun Friends,
Larry Page has a net worth of 32.1 billion dollars but is it simply a reflection of how much fun he is having? If you are reading this, chances are you came to this website as a result of a Google search. Larry Page founded Google Inc. with Sergey Brin, whom we will cover in the following blog, and while Google is ranked # 1 in Forbes list of Best American Employers, we must ask if it has to do with the fun fueled but highly productive work environment at Google Inc.? “We didn’t start out to build a search engine at all…”, explains Larry Page when asked about initially perceiving the need for Google but to “do something fun and perhaps practical at the same time which is really what motivates me.”(3:50) Larry Page’s parents provided the ideal environment of educational play early in his childhood which would spark a curiosity for technological building, invention, and eventually business of effecting the world. ”In college, I built an ink-jet printer out of Lego’s…. sort of fun projects…I liked to do those sort of things.”(3:04)
How Larry Page’s Fun Reflects His Net Worth
Larry Page envisions Google becoming incrementally closer to artificial intelligence where it will understand everything on the web and knows exactly what users want. Many would argue that it is already the “ultimate search engine”. Google Inc. currently has a list of company acquisitions and an even longer list of products that literally span the globe and it continues to grow. We don’t have internet balloons with Larry Page’s email id beaming down at us but anyone could read his face during the interview above or current pictures on any medium and see that he is having fun. With leading edge ideas like Google’s own wireless phones, network Project Fi, and The Loon Project on the horizon, we can also see that he is still enjoying the benefits of that same inventive interest in technology and the business of getting inventions out into world.
We will begin to end with this quote: “The dream as conceived 25 years ago has not been achieved. Until software becomes the ultimate tool for collaboration, productivity, and efficiency, the work is not done. And there’s nothing more fun than doing that work.” -Larry Page
FUN + HUSTLE = The GOOD LIFE
Just to be clear, we will discover co-founder Sergey Brin in the following blog to give each equal attention and focus. Surely, as partners, they are used to being paired together as topics of discussion but they are equally important and should be explored as such. If we use Sergey Brin’s net worth(30.7 billion) as any indicator, they both seem to be having relatively equal amounts of fun.
What about your childhood environment sparks your curiosity and inspires dreams of your future?
