How Sergey Brin’s Fun Reflects His Net Worth

Hi Fun Friends,

Google Co-founder Sergey Brin has a net worth of $29 billion(2015) and despite what may come across to some as the opposite, it is a direct reflection of how much fun he is having. After reviewing a minimal amount of interviews and conversations most can easily get a sense that Google Inc. co-founder Sergey Brin has a kind of intense, very direct, unapologetic, methodic, results oriented style that not only brings him dramatic success, but more importantly pleasure and solutions to some of the worlds biggest problems. It may not be quite as obvious, but that he also enjoys intense fun from time to time. Many can see Sergey Brin’s having fun during discussions of many projects like Google Glass, The Self-Driving Car, Smart Contact Lenses, and Airborne Wind Turbines but it may be viewed as a different kind of fun. The kind that feels like focused passion and that comes from confidence of knowing that you have resources to actually address the most common and most challenging issues constantly. The kind of epic fun that comes from frequently achieving success over goals that are beyond the imagination of most and then waiting for the rest of the world to catch up with the realization or appreciation of the success of those goals.

How Sergey Brin’s Fun Reflects His Net Worth

Although Sergey Brin and his founding partner, Larry Page(net worth:$29.5 billion), obviously have different styles of attracting success, there are some similar qualities that quickly stand out. For instance, they both seem to share a common passion for fun throughout the many stages of the creation and development processes. Another similar quality would be the enjoyment of the business of providing value to the planet. As mentioned in the previous post about the other half of the Google Inc. founding team, Larry Page, there is a growing list of products that we use regularly that have proven to do just that. Provide tremendous value for the entire planet. When asked about how he used his product, Google Plus, Sergey Brin lightly stated: “I was really kind of surprised myself…I’m not a heavy social network user and yet I found myself, pretty quickly, you know…kind of addicted. Yeah, because I was just having fun posting both publicly as well as sharing to individual circles.”(5:32)

Another important quality that stands out and that most people can relate to is his optimism about success despite doubt or scrutiny(7:07). “It certainly feels good to me when I find that we’ve developed something so valuable personally.”(7:11), responds Sergey as he shrugs off the interviewer’s mention of scrutiny. Now, since this particular interview is from Web Summit 2.0 (2011), we can plainly see that he was right in doing so because right now Google Plus is a tool used by millions daily with numbers continuing to grow.
